This policy covers the AppWand desktop app, the AppWand service it talks to (api.appwand.dev), sandbox deploys on appwand.io, and this website. Questions go to support@appwand.dev.
In short
- Your projects live on your computer. AppWand doesn't upload them unless you use an AI feature, deploy, or push to GitHub.
- We keep your account details and a record of your AI usage (counts and timings, not your prompts or code).
- We don't sell your data, show ads, or use tracking cookies.
What we collect
Your account
When you sign in with GitHub or Google, we receive and keep your name, email address, profile photo, user name and the account id from that provider. If you sign in with GitHub, we also keep the access token GitHub gives us. AppWand uses it only to push your code to your own repositories when you ask it to.
Your plan and payments
We keep your plan, how many projects you have registered and how many AI tokens you have used. Payments are handled by FastSpring, our reseller. We never see or store your card details. FastSpring tells us your order and subscription so we can set your plan.
What you send to the AI
When you use an AI feature (designing a schema, planning, writing or editing a page, fixing errors, sample data), the desktop app sends what that step needs: your app description, your instructions, table definitions, and the code of the pages involved. Our service passes this to an AI model provider (Anthropic, and possibly Mistral AI) to produce the answer, then returns the answer to you.
We don't store the prompts or the answers. For each call we log the type of step, the model, the token counts, the time it took and any error message, so we can count usage and find problems. The providers process requests under their API terms, which do not allow them to train their models on this data.
Deployed apps
When you deploy, the app's API code and, if you choose, a copy of its database and uploaded files are sent to our app server and run there until you take it offline. That data belongs to you. We access it only to run, fix or remove the deployment, or when the law requires it. "Take offline" deletes the app, its database and its files.
What stays on your computer
Your projects, your database connection details and passwords, and the project's .appwand folder (including its AI log) stay on your computer. AppWand never sends your database password to us.
This website
The website uses no analytics or tracking cookies. It remembers your light or dark choice in your browser's local storage. Fonts load from Google Fonts, which receives your IP address the way any web request does. Our server keeps standard access logs (IP address, page, time) for security.
Who we share it with
Only the services that run AppWand, and only what each one needs:
- Anthropic and Mistral AI: process AI requests.
- Amazon Web Services: host our service and deployed apps.
- Neon: hosts our account database.
- FastSpring: handles payments.
- GitHub and Google: sign-in, and GitHub for the pushes you ask for.
We share data with others only if the law requires it. We don't sell it.
How long we keep it
We keep your account data while your account is open. If you ask us to delete your account, we delete your account details, GitHub token, plan record and deployed apps within 30 days. We keep usage logs without your identity, and billing records for as long as the law requires.
Your choices
- See, correct or delete your data: email support@appwand.dev from your account's email address.
- Revoke our GitHub access at any time in GitHub's settings, under Applications.
- Don't use the AI features if you don't want your code sent to a model provider. Everything else works on your own computer.
Security
All traffic to our service uses HTTPS. Sign-in sessions are signed tokens, which the desktop app keeps in its own data folder in your user profile. Access to our servers is limited to the people who run AppWand.
Children
AppWand is a developer tool and isn't meant for children under 13. We don't knowingly collect their data.
Changes
If this policy changes, we'll update this page and its date. For a significant change, we'll also tell you in the app or by email.
